Understanding your options
We explain different types of cover and how they may work together, so you can make sense of the choices in front of you.

An insurance policy is more than a premium. Understanding what it covers, how it works and what happens when you need it can make a meaningful difference.
Life, TPD, trauma and income protection policies can look similar at first glance. Their definitions, features, exclusions and costs may differ. An insurance adviser helps you understand the available options and the trade-offs involved.
At Premier Wealth Protection, our work continues from your first enquiry through policy servicing and, if needed, a claim.
We explain different types of cover and how they may work together, so you can make sense of the choices in front of you.
Price matters, but so do definitions, benefit periods, exclusions and other policy features. We help you look beyond the headline premium.
We guide you through the application and underwriting process, including the insurer’s requests for information and the terms it offers.
Income, family responsibilities, debt and premiums can change. We can help you review whether your existing cover still fits your circumstances.
If you need to claim, we can help you understand the process, gather information and communicate with the insurer.
You can ask questions and talk through the next steps with a specialist, rather than interpreting every policy detail alone.
You can approach an insurer directly, use cover offered by your super fund, or work with an adviser. These options can overlap: an adviser can also help you assess insurance held through super.
| What to consider | Direct from an insurer | Through your super fund | With Premier Wealth Protection |
|---|---|---|---|
| Getting cover | You apply to the insurer and assess the offer yourself. | You check the insurance available through your fund, including any existing default cover. | We help you explore available options from insurers on our panel. |
| Comparing options | You compare policy terms, premiums and alternatives yourself. | You assess your fund’s cover and how it compares with other options. | We help explain differences in premiums, definitions and policy features. |
| How it is held | Depends on the policy you choose. | The policy is generally held by the super fund trustee, with premiums deducted from your super balance. | We can help you understand options for holding eligible cover inside or outside super. |
| Ongoing help | You contact the insurer about changes or claims. | You contact your fund and, where relevant, the insurer. | Our team can assist with reviews, policy servicing and claims. |
| Cost of help | You pay the applicable policy premium. | Premiums are generally deducted from your super balance and reduce the funds available for retirement. | There is no separate fee for our insurance advice and support. You pay the applicable policy premium. |
Our insurance advice and support come at no direct cost to you. If you take out a policy through us, we may receive a commission from the insurer. We disclose this to you as required.
Using our service does not increase the premium you pay for the same policy through that insurer. Premiums and policy terms can differ between products and insurers, so we compare the overall value of the available options.
Our role does not finish when a policy begins. We remain available for questions, policy reviews and claims support. Explore common insurance terms, learn about claims support, or ask us to review existing cover.
